Collection: Traveller Tinsmiths

See some recent work from our other makers...

Traveller tinsmithing is an important part of Ireland’s craft past, so we are very lucky to be working with master craftsmen, James Collins and Thomas McDonnell. Based in Finglas, they are two of the few working tinsmiths in the country and their skill is truly something to behold. Watching them work is like watching a story unfold... two dimensional becomes three dimensional in a matter of minutes.

We've put the ponchers (mugs) to the test, and yes, they do keep the tea very hot, and yes, the tea does taste awful good out of them... as for the latter, we can't tell you why; it just does. Try it for yourself, you'll be a willing convert.

Is your cherished handmade tin starting to leak? Fear not! Our makers have a proven method to bring it back to life:

1. Brew a strong black tea with a couple of tea bags and enough water to fill your jug.
2. Let it simmer on the hob for 15 minutes until it's very strong.
3. Remove the tea bags and add a few tablespoons of sugar.
4. Pour the solution back into your tin product and let it soak for a few hours or overnight.
5. Rinse, and you're good to go!
