Machinist (Garment and Homewares) - full and part time available

Job description
We are looking for a machinist to join our growing team. The job involves sewing and finishing high quality garments, accessories and homewares (such as curtains & cushions). Quality and speed are important in this role, and training is provided to develop these skills. An experienced sewer can move up the pay categories faster.
We have a three year training programme, based on individual skill assessment and learning plans, that supports people to develop tailoring and production skills, needed in today’s marketplace. At the end of the programme we will support participants into mainstream employment, or if they want, into their own business.
We also provide some 1-2-1 supports, as required, in relation to helping people overcome barriers that are impeding their engagement with the workplace training scheme, whether these are due to language, housing, health or other issues. For staff coming from a criminal justice or addiction background we aim to work closely with their key workers.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Fabric cutting
- Machine sewing & finishing to patterns provided
- Hand sewing
- Quality control
- Stock management
- Ironing and fabric preparation
- Machine set up and basic maintenance
- Packaging
- Attending training & upskilling
- Workroom clean up
- Other production tasks as requested
- Attending training and team meetings etc
Reports to: The Manager
Based in: 24 Mountjoy Sq East, Dublin 1
Hours: Full time: 9:00am – 5:30pm, with 30 mins for lunch and two 15 min breaks daily (37.5 working hours weekly).
Rate of pay: Starting rate is €12.70 per hour, which can increase over time depending on skill level, performance and attendance. The top rate for assistant textile manager is €14.30 per hour.
