This lovely little multifunctional bag is made from beautiful Irish linen, woven by our friends in the north, Marion and Hermann of the Flaxmill, it has a beetled finish. Beetling is a natural chemical free way of softening linen, where it is bashed and pounded for hours by beech timber - giving it a beautiful lustre and mellow handle. This used to be done by hand using large stones in a river as a base, and pounding with wooden blocks. Thanks to the invention of the beetling engine, that process is a lot easier. It is 36cm x 30cm with a drawstring cord and is made by our textiles studio for women from a refugee background. It is suitable for bread, knitting, embroidery, socks and smalls, and whatever else your little heart wants to use it for!
