Cloth Masks: One Mask for you / One Mask for Direct Provision
Buy a washable mask for yourself, and donate one to someone living in Direct Provision.
Our cloth masks are made by women from a refugee background – present and past employees of The Textile Studio - a charity that provides jobs and training to refugee women. As well as the supporting the women to be leaders in their community this initiative is providing them with much needed income continuity at this difficult time.
The masks are made remotely from new cotton or linen, are then steam ironed, and are sent to a central location where they are left unopened for two days. This removes the risk of contamination, in case of asymptomatic contamination by our Makers. They will then be distributed by Irish Refugee Council, using extra precautions i.e. gloves and masks while packing.
When you buy a mask for yourself, it will also be left for two days before being packed up by a member of our team (using gloves and masks) and posted out to you
This project is done in partnership with Irish Refugee Council whose work to support those with people coming to our country to seek protection is absolutely crucial. You can donate to them at at the link above.
All surplus from the sale of masks will be used to develop The Textile Studio, an initiative to support women from a refugee or criminal justice background to attain long term employment.
